August Reflection

Today for inquiry we were doing a August Reflection. We do this every month so we look back and see what we did during this month.

I enjoyed reflecting what I learned during this month and writing about what I did in lockdown. I found it tricky writing about the age recommendations for the book in the reading box because I  didn't really know at first. My digital learning object shows that I can publish to the web and embed my reflection onto my blog. Please see my August reflection bellow!

Paralympic facts!

Today for Inquiry we were learning about the Paralympics. The first task was to watch a video about what the paralympics is. After watching the video we created a slide or use the template our teacher had made for us to write in our Paralympic facts in the boxes.

I enjoyed learning about the Paralympics because when a person is differently abled, they still can be just as good as the people in the Olympic games. I found it tricky finding information about the Paralympics because the Olympics were more talked about than the Paralympics.

Please see my Paralympic facts bellow!

Escape the math room!

Today for maths we tried to escape from the math room. We listened to a video for the instructions. After that we needed to click a link to try and solve the math escape room. Then we made a copy of the math escape room answer sheet. There are 11 slides to complete.

I enjoyed answering the questions because it was challenging and fun. What I found tricky was answering some of the questions because some were very difficult especially on the last slide, it said how many pizza slices were left which was 24 but the letter was E then it would be "Mastee" and it didn't really make sense. Maybe it's how many they ate and the answer is 72 which is the letter R. Here is my math code slide!

Facts about Orcas

Today for reading I was learning to apply knowledge. I was also learning about Orcas/Killer Whales. First I needed to read 2 articles and 1 video about Orcas. I get to choose one create task to complete. I chose to make a Google slide and create a informative fact about Orcas.

I enjoyed writing facts about Orcas by using the articles i've read. What I found challenging was researching about Orcas because I didn't really know any facts about them. My digital learning object shows that I can embed my slides and put it onto my blog. Please see my slides bellow!

Life in a bubble

Today for writing I was learning to structure. Our teacher made us some slides that we can choose from to express our feelings or thoughts about lockdown. I chose the life in your bubble. So basically you're just telling what you did in lockdown in Alphabetical orders.

I enjoyed filling each one of the Alphabetical order box. But It took me quite a bit of time to fill the all in. I found it quite challenging writing in a Alphabetical order because sometimes I can't find a word that starts with the exact same letter.

Please look at my work bellow!

What is compost?

Today for writing I was learning to structure. I was also learning about composting. First I needed to watch a video and read 2 books about composting. After that we made a copy on a Google doc and we made a plan about composting. Then we started writing about composting by using our plans.

I enjoyed writing about compost because I found it really interesting. I found it complicated to find a WOW fact about composting. My digital learning object shows that I can copy my Doc and post it onto my blog.

Please see my writing bellow:

Composting

Do you want to save the planet? Well composting is an environmentally friendly way to do it.

What is it?

Compost is good for using it in your garden because it improves soil structures. You also put yard waste, worms, kitchen scraps, bugs and water into your compost bin.

How is it made?

Compost is made from leaves, dead flowers, grass clippings and more. There are two different composts, green and brown. Greens include fresh grass clippings, picked weeds and kitchen scraps. Browns include dried grass, fall leaves, and flowers. You can stack the browns and greens in layers then put bugs, fungi and water on top.

The benefits of composting

Using compost in your garden can improve the soil and increase the amount of oxygen to plants. Composting is also good for the environment.

Wow facts

Did you know that Compost has been around for 12,000 years?!

Faith and Trust Word Cloud

This week for R.E (Religious Education) we were learning about Faith and Trust. The task for today was to make a Word Cloud for synonyms of Faith and Trust. I enjoyed decorating my Word Cloud and writing synonyms of Faith and Trust. I found it challenging to find synonyms of Faith and Trust and figure out where to write my Word Cloud at first. My digital learning object shows that I can download my work and post it onto my blog. Please see my Word Cloud below!

Maui's Jawbone

For the reading this week I was learning to apply knowledge. Applying knowledge is used for different situations and contexts. First, I watched a video on how Maui found the magical Jawbone. A part of the story is about how Maui finally found his mother Taranga. But two things bothered him. He wondered where his father was and where his mother went during the day. Maui saw his mum leaping into a deep hole. So he flew down as a Kereru in disguise. Then he saw his mother and his dad beneath a tree. Maui fluttered into the branches of the puriri tree. He pulled out berries and dropped it on his dad to attract his attention. Each day Maui brought food to his grandfather. But one day he hid the food from his grandfather because he wanted the magic Jawbone. "Give me your magic Jawbone and I will give you your kai " said Maui. "No!" said his grandfather. So every day Maui give him the food and ask him again and again, until his grandfather finally gave the magic Jawbone to him.

We got to choose to draw the magic Jawbone or the Kereru. I chose to sketch the Jawbone on a piece of paper. I found it fun sketching the magic Jawbone and colouring it. I found it challenging to take a photo because the piece of paper kept on moving. Here is my sketch of the magic Jawbone!

My Robot

This week, for reading I've been learning to identify the author's purpose. Author's purpose means why the Author is writing about that story for persuading, informing or entertaining readers.

In reading I have been digitally making my own problem solving robot on a Google slide. We needed to think of a problem you wanted to solve and tell how you can solve it with your robot. My robot is called '' Kitt ''which is designed to help with Global Warming and Littering (It will show you in the slides).

I enjoyed designing my own robot. I also found it enjoyable to decorate each one of my slides. It was a bit difficult thinking of a name for my robot at first, but i managed to name it. Here is my work!

Mary Word Cloud

Today my class has been in a Google meet because there has been a new COVID-19 case in the Auckland region, so the whole of NZ went into lockdown for 3 days. Our teacher showed us what tasks we are going to do today, We had 3 tasks to complete and the one I'm doing right now is RE (Religious Education) .

In RE we are learning about the assumption of Mary which was when Mary died. When Mary died, both of her soul and body ascended into heaven just like her son Jesus. The task was to create a word cloud including words like ''Assumption'', ''Heaven'' , ''Mary'' and ect.

I found it very enjoyable creating the word cloud of Mary. I liked the way that you could change the background colour and the colour of the words. I picked a black background so that the colour of the words would stand out more. I found it a bit complicated using the site  Word cloud  because I didn't really know how to use it at first.

Here is my word cloud!

Valerie Adams

This week our class have been doing some writing about a NZ Olympian. I was learning to Paragraph and my Success Criteria is to stick to one topic, adding 2-3 supporting details and my last sentence is a concluding sentence. I was writing about Valerie Adams, she is a amazing shot putter. I found it a bit challenging sticking to one topic because sometimes I get mixed up on what I'm writing about. I found it very enjoyable writing about Valerie Adams and what she did in the Olympics. I will use more of my own words in my writing next time. Here is my writing!

I found it challenging to pick a medicinal plant because their were so many plants to choose from. My digital learning object shows that I can embed my slide. Here is my work!

Facts about Japan

For the past few days I was learning to skim and scan in reading, Skim means get a quick look of the story on what it's about and scan means finding a fact by using the keywords in the story. Our teacher made us a slide about Japan, on the first slide it said to do 3-4 slides but I did 5 instead because I found it very enjoyable finding facts about the Japanese culture!

I found it a bit difficult choosing what slide i'm doing because they're all great ideas to choose from, I also found it challenging finding the facts about Japan.

I enjoyed decorating on each slides, adding images of the Japanese culture was also very enjoyable. Here is my work!
