For the past few weeks, In Cybersmart we have been learning how to code a game using the site Gamefroot. We also worked on coding our games from home, because it was our homework. I have made a start on my game, but it took a lot of time and perseverance. I found it pretty tricky since It was my first time using the site Gamefroot and I didn't really know what to do. Here is my unfinished Gamefroot that I made.

Something I enjoyed doing this month was blending and painting the Tom Fedro art. I also enjoyed setting up the rat traps. A thing I found tricky was making a game on GameFroot since It was first time on it.

Financial Literacy
This week we were learning about Financial Literacy. Financial Literacy means saving money. A guy called Callum from ASB get wise programme came to room 1 in St Mary's. Callum teaches us how to use money wisely, how to get money and things you can do to get money! After a bit of talking about saving money, we grabbed a piece of paper, and wrote down what your goal is on the paper. We also wrote down what your good at, what you can do to get money, and when you are going to start! I enjoyed writing about my goal and how to get money. Here is my work!
Compare and Contrast
This week for reading we were learning to compare and contrast. Compare and contrast means comparing something that is the same to something that's different. First we needed to go on our reading group and read a story of Matariki called "The eyes of Tawhirimatea Story" so we could find something that's the same and different then we wrote our ideas on the whiteboard. After we read " The eyes of Tawhirimatea" we read another story of Matariki, so we could compare the similarities of the other story we read before. I found out that it said there was 9 stars in the first story and the other story was seven! I enjoyed comparing and contrasting.
I found it a bit challenging finding the contrast in the story.
Here are some more similarities from the storys.
Student- Led Conference Invitation
This week I was learning to understand how to shape texts for different purposes and audiences. First we needed to read what Student- led Conferencing means, and what you need to include in your Student -Led Conference Invitation. After that we went on a site to create our avatar, so we could add it onto our slide. When we finished making our avatar we had to claim a slide by putting your name on one of the slides. I enjoyed writing my invitation on a slide. I found it a bit challenging to glue my art in the middle of my invitation. Here is my Student- Led Conference Invitation!

Measuring Tasks
This week for math we were learning how to measure our wrist, neck, arm span and more. I learnt about what a popliteal is. The popliteal is the measurement from the underside of your right leg behind your knee when seated, to the floor, taken with shoes off. I enjoyed measuring my height. I didn't know I am 1.29 metres now. I found it tricky to measure my buddy since she was so tall compared to me! Here is my work.

Perseus
This week for reading, we were learning to infer, ( Inferring is when the story gives you clues but not the answers). We needed to make a slide on what personality Perseus have. I enjoyed describing Perseus on a google slide. I found it challenging to arrange the text boxes in the right place. My digital object shows that I can use google slides. Here is my work!
How does the life cycle of a butterfly work?
For the past few weeks, our class has been learning how write explanation. We were split into two groups for our writing. One group was focusing on including complex sentences in their writing. The other group was focusing on including a diagram in their writing so that the reader can understand more about the topic we are writing about.
I found it hard to choose a topic since their were so many topics we could choose from. Some people were stuck on their topic so our teacher gave us some ideas on the tv. The topic i chose was, How does the life cycle of a butterfly work? Our teacher said if we have the same topic as some else, we could work together!
I enjoyed writing about How does the life cycle of a butterfly work? I also found it quite fun learning new things from my topic.
Have you ever done explanation writing? Here is my writing:
How does the life cycle of a butterfly work?
The life cycle of a butterfly is truly amazing! Butterflies have four stages of life, egg, larva pupa and the adult butterfly. Each of the four stages are very unique which is part of what makes raising and watching a butterfly so much interesting!
The egg stage
All types of butterflies start as a tiny egg. The eggs usually last for about a week or two, and then at some point the egg will hatch into a butterfly larva.
Larva stage
A caterpillar is the larva stage of a butterfly. The caterpillar hatches from a very tiny egg and then it will eventually turn into an adult butterfly or moth. The larva stage usually lasts from two weeks to about a month.
The pupa stage ( Chrysalis )
The pupa of butterflies can be called “ Chrysalis “ . The pupa of many moths is protected inside a cocoon of silk. The pupa stage can last a couple of weeks, a month or even longer!
The adult stage
The adult stage looks very different from the larva. The caterpillar has tiny eyes, stubby legs and very short antennae. The adults have long legs, long antennae, and compound eyes.
Conclusion
When you learn all the different stages of a butterfly, you’ve learned that butterflies, just like all living things, have a special process of life that they go through.

Tapa Cloth
This week our class made a Tapa cloth since it was Samoan week! We grabbed a paper called "Sugar paper because we didn't have a cloth so instead we used sugar paper. I found it hard to make the lines straight since we were not aloud using rulers. I also found challenging to draw the outline of the lines. I enjoyed dying the Tapa cloth. Here it is!
Sketching!
This week our class was sketching our favourite anime character! First our class was deciding what anime character they want to draw. I chose Todoroki. I enjoyed drawing Todoroki and watching the tutorial step by step. I found it a bit challenging to shade my drawing because I normally colour in with my felt pens. H
ave you sketch an anime character before? Here is my sketch!
