Room 1's goal setting

Today our class was learning to set our goals. Our teacher first gave us two slide to work on in our google drive. Then we had to go on our learning disposition goal. We had to choose a school subject that you think you need to practice and work on, and after we done that we had to choose a learning hero from the learning disposition that have the stuff you need to do in your learning subject. The learning heros came from the Horouta waka. I enjoyed writing in my goals. I found tricky on picking one of the learning heroes because they are all so amazing! My digital learning object shows that I can embed my slides onto my blog.

What are your goals for this year? Who would be your learning hero? please tell me in the comment section I would love to read them!

Sea week!

This week was sea week  we had homework to do which was to draw our  favourite sea animal for homework and research facts about it. First I draw the sea animal and then after I colour it in with a orange colouring pencil. After I drawed it and colour it I go on my chromebook then I maked up google slide then i was researching facts about starfish. After we put 4 or 5 facts my friend helped me print it out. When it printed out i cut out my starfish drawing and then I taped it onto where i put the facts was then i'm done! Before i show my work i'm going to tell some facts that I found from researching did you know that starfish have no brain and blood? and did you know that starfish can grow back their limbs when it fall off?

February Reflection!

Today we were reflecting on what we did in february. First we had to say what we enjoy from reading, I enjoyed making the chinese new year poster from reading. Then we talk about what our special projects we did in February and one of them is setting up the rat traps and the possum traps. We also talked about our maths goals, what you think you did well in maths and what you think you need to improve in maths. And the last thing we need to do is talk about what we enjoyed in writing from february, I enjoyed writing about my favourite toy we played with when we were little.

Facts about plastic!

This week we were making connections between what we read. We also were learning how plastic can pollutes the world. We first had to read a story about plastic pollution in the ocean and then we also had to watch Two videos. Everytime we came across a wow fact, we had to go on jamboard then add the wow fact that we have found. After that we had to make a gif, but first we had to make a slide deck with one wow fact on each slide, and we had to have 5-7 slides before we put our wow facts in. After we finish putting our wow facts on each slide we search up ''Tall tweets'' so we can make our gifs. then we click on the first link to go on tall tweets. I found it tricky to make the words clear to read over the background. I enjoyed making the gif and putting the facts on my slide, but it was also very sad that there is so much plastic in the ocean. But here is my work!

Ash wednesday!

Two weeks ago were learning about ash wednesday. Ash wednesday is the first day of lent, so the teacher gave us a activity to do for RE which was an lenten promise. She gave us a sheet of paper to write, colour  and cut out. First we had to write what to do in lent, for an example for fasting it means that you have to give up at least one thing for lent, like that you gave up eating chocolate or lollies and some other things that you can give up on. On the second step after we finish writing the promises for lent, we had to colour it in. And the last step we had to cut the pieces out. I really did enjoy colouring the lenten promise sheet, i also enjoyed learning about lent. I found it a bit tricky to post it in time and cutting the pieces out. What did you give up for lent? what are you promising to do? what are you doing for almsgiving? Please tell me what one of these that you did in the comments!

My favourite toy!

Today we  learning to describe in our writing. In our success criteria is i will use specific nouns, i will use adjectives and i will use juicy verbs.  First we had to read a story of a person called  yasmin, so we could have some ideas to write about our favourite toys. after we read it we highlight how many adjectives, verbs and nouns she has. We had to put our title the name of our favourite toy. The first paragraph is describing what your favourite toy looks like, and on the second paragraph it was about what you did with your toy when you were little and where it is now. After we finish our writing we had to go on canvas to publish our stories that we wrote. It was a bit tricky since i haven't use it before, but then one of my amazing friend helped me on canvas to publish my writing. I enjoyed using canva and experimenting something new. I also enjoyed writing about my favourite toy named floppy when i was little. What is your favourite toy? Is it a teddy like mine? or maybe a doll? You can tell me in the comments what you did with your favourite toy when you were little, I would love to read them!

What pets do room 1 have or prefer?

For the past few weeks we were learning to gather, sort and display multivariate data. We had to try to ask everyone in the class. I was trying to see how much people have a cat, dog, fish or none, and we also had to use tally-marks to gather our information. Then we put how much your tally-marks are on a google sheet, then we made a graph with some help of tutorials on the classsite. I thought it was a bit tricky for me to finish in time because i didn't really know how to make a graph before but then i know now because one amazing person made a tutorial of how to make a graph if you don't know how to and i'm one of them so i watched the tutorial and i managed to do it very quickly because of how she explained on the tutorial. I found out that cats had the most tally marks! Cats have 11, dogs have 8, fish and none is 2, i might have missed some people but i tried to question a few or even a couple of the people in my class. Here is my work.

fingerprint experiment!

Last week we were doing a experiment about fingerprints. First we were sticking our fingers on the ink pad, i stick my thumb first then i try it on my index finger, my pinky and my ring finger. They look a bit different on each finger, my ring finger has a whorl and my thumb has thin lines in them. Here is my work.

Whodunnit crime scene experiment!

Last week we were doing a activity about a crime scene that happened and there are a the handwriting expert, the fibre expert and the fingerprint expert which is me. So we were trying to figure out who stole the laptop, the suspects that the police have interviewed with are carrie, cecil, chloe and conner. carrie has whorl fingerprint, no flick no slope, circles on top of i's denim, Cecil has arch fingerprint, slight slope handwriting and black t- shirt, conner has whorl fingerprint, cursive handwriting , slope, flicks no fibres and the last person that the police interviewed with is chloe, she has arch fingerprint neat handwriting, no flicks, no slope and she has sheepskin fibres. but in conclusion we think that it was chloe because she was wearing sheepskin slippers, which was the same fibre in the fibre sample. The washing soda and the white powder from the crime scene has similar effects, the arch fingerprint matched that of chloe's fingerprints shown in the police evidence. here is my work
